Hello! I can’t believe it’s already late April and I’ve been at my site for 22 weeks so far. The classic mantra of Peace Corps is “days go slow, weeks go fast,” and I’ve definitely felt that to be true. Sometimes I’ll check my clock on a slow weekend and think, “how is it only 3pm?” and then other times, Ramadan is suddenly over and I’m trying to wrap some things up before my upcoming vacation and school break.

Eid Mubarak! This week marked the end of Ramadan; culturally, the end of Ramadan seems to be akin to Thanksgiving in the US, and in terms of religious importance, the end of Ramadan is kind of like Easter. Not a perfect comparison of course, but it gives you an idea.

Hello again, this time from another small site in my region! The eight of us from my cohort who live down here in the south decided to put together a regional iftar dinner, as Ramadan is going to end at some point this week. It’s been great to see everyone and cook some food together.

Hello again! This week has been pretty normal and chill for me. My classes during Ramadan have had significantly less attendance, and I’ve enjoyed being able to give more of my students individualized attention.

Hello from my friend’s site: a small community about 60 kilometers from me. It’s been cool to see a nearby community that’s very different, yet very similar to my own site. We’re enjoying iftar with her host family tonight, and I also happen to function as Amazon Prime delivery, given that I was able to bring over important necessities from my site that her site doesn’t have—namely, Oreos.

As I mentioned last week, I’ve spent this entire week participating in my cohort’s In-Service Training (IST) up here in the north! I now have two full days of travel back to my site, including another stopover in Marrakech. Woo!
